Q: WHAT IS AN INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM?
A: Intensive Outpatient Program (also known as “Intensive Outpatient Treatment”) is a treatment program that allows people in recovery to continue in a therapeutic environment to accommodate work and family life.
Q: WHAT SORT OF THERAPIES AND ACTIVITIES ARE INVOLVED WHEN PARTICIPATING IN THE INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM?
A: In the IOP, you receive individualized and group therapy. Groups are small and generally do not exceed 10 people, allowing for a safe, therapeutic environment. There are many different areas covered. Please refer to our programs section for more detailed descriptions.
Q: WHAT ARE SOME COMMON SIGNS SUBSTANCE ABUSE IS PRESENT?
A: Substance abuse affects different people in a multitude of ways depending on the substance and the individual. Here are a few common signs that are related to a person in active addiction.
Q: IS THERE A CURE FOR ADDICTION?
A: Since addiction is considered a disease, many wonder if it is curable like other diseases with medication. The answer is there is no real cure for addiction, but it is treatable. By receiving treatment for alcohol or drug addiction, you learn the coping mechanisms necessary to learn how to deal with any triggers that might come your way causing you to use again. With individualized treatment, you get the right treatment based off of your needs and addiction. When achieving abstinence from substances, your brain can reverse your cravings for substances.
Q: WHAT ARE SOME TREATMENTS USED FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE?
A: We use a variety of techniques to treat addiction and alcoholism including: behavioral therapies, group and individual therapy, life management training and family counseling. We educate our clients on how to cope with their addiction and regain control in their day to day life.

Q: WHAT TYPE OF HELP IS AVAILABLE FOR FAMILIES?
A: At Windhaven Counseling, we understand that successful rehabilitation for the addict or alcoholic includes help for the family members. Family is strongly encouraged to participate in all family programs.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY?
A: Our philosophy identifies alcohol and drug addiction as chronic and progressive diseases. These diseases eliminate, either partially or wholly, the ability for the addict or alcoholic to successfully cope with life on life’s terms. As a result, addicts and alcoholics present an advanced deterioration in all major areas of their lives. This disease cripples the physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual aspects of the alcoholic or addict.
Q: IS TREATMENT GENDER-SPECIFIC?
A: Windhaven Counseling is a women only based treatment program.
